Albion Harris Bicknell's "Near Annasquam (Annisquam)" is an original etching printed upon nineteenth century laid paper and with full margins as created around 1883. This impression is signed by A. H. Bicknell in the lower left corner of the plate within the image. This etching was included in this 1883 'Exhibition of Contemporary American Art' and bears the catalogue number, 88. "Near Annasquam (Annisquam)" is a scarce, original example of the Massachusetts landscape art created by the American artist, Albion Harris Bicknell.

Note: Albion Harris Bicknell 'A. H. Bicknell': A nineteenth century Massachusetts landscape, portrait and historical painter and etcher, Albion Harris Bicknell studied art techniques at the Lowell Institute, Boston, in 1855. From 1860 to 1862 Bicknell completed his education at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Paris, under Thomas Couture. After spending several years in Venice, he returned to Boston in 1864 and set up a studio there. A. H. Bicknell regularly exhibited with the Boston Athenaeum and was a founding member of the Allston Club (1866).
  In 1883 the Art Department of the New England Manufacturers' and Mechanics' Institute, Boston, held a major exhibition of contemporary American art. Concentrating largely upon American drawings and etchings the exhibition catalogue listed 731 works of original art. Albion Harris Bicknell's original etching, Near Annasquam (Annisquam), was included in this exhibition and bears the catalogue number, 88. *
