During the 1970's - 1980's, Bareford visited Ontario, Canada, and at that time, the artist created several works of art, of which at least five were original silkscreens; these include such works as, Redheads & Buffleheads (two works with ducks in a pond), along with Taiga Glade, Sentinal, and Algonquin Afternoon (three works in a winter landscape with wild animals, 'moose', 'wolves', and 'deer'). Sentinal is an original silkscreen published in an edition of two hundred and fifty signed s. Printed in soft pastel colours, this striking winter landscape depicts a wolf howling and watching over his territory at the top of a beautiful snowy hill. Like Algonquin Afternoon, and Taiga Glade, Sentinal was most likely created at Canada's Algonquin provincial park.
Today David Bareford's art is included in such collections as the Fleet Bank, Boston & Hartford, the Sears Collection, Illinois, First National Bank of Central New Jersey, and American Telephone & Telegraph, New York and many other important public and private collections.
Algonquin provincial park is one of the most popular parks in Ontario. Established in 1893, it is also the first provincial park in Canada. The park is located between between Georgian Bay and the Ottawa River in Central Ontario Canada, and measures over seven thousand five hundred square kilometers. This is a magnificent natural resource with its maple hills, rocky ridges, thousands of lakes, and let's not forget the protected wildlife living in this ecological habibat which includes, deer, wolves, moose, beaver, black bears, and many other wild and wonderful creatures. Because of its extraordinary beauty, the park has attracted many wilderness and wildlife artists such as, David Milne, Thomas Wesley Mclean, Michael Dumas, Tom Thomson and as well as members of Canada's famous 'Group of Seven'. David Bareford's picturesque winter landscape with wolves, Sentinal certainly captures the tranquility and splendor of this park.
