Bronislaw Bak 'Bruno Bak': A twentieth century painter,
printmaker and stained glass artist, Bronislaw Bak came to the United
States at an early age. His art was exhibited throughout both the American
Eastern and Midwest states from 1950 to 1980. Undoubtedly, Bruno Bak's most
renowned work of art is the window at Saint John's Abbey Church, Saint
John's University, Minnesota. This powerful work of stained glass art
is one of the world's largest and took Bak almost thirty years to complete.
In 2001 the Benedicta Art Center at Saint John's University launched a
retrospective exhibition of Bruno Bak and his art. |
|
In 1973 Bronislaw Bak accepted a position teaching
art at Georgia Southern College. He maintained that position until his
death in 1981. This college includes a large selection of Bak's paintings,
woodcuts and lithographs in its permanent collection. |
|
Good Days are Coming is one of Bak's
most poignant works of woodcut art. It obviously deals with the turbulent
1960's decade, in general, and the plight of African-Americans, in particular.
It is a riveting symbol of suffering. |
