Note: | This original lithograph printed in colors hails from a series of prints dealing with 19th century contemporary costumes from Europe and Northern Africa entitled, Galerie Royale de Costumes published by Aubert in Paris around 1870. Printing images by using a series of carefully registered tint stones -- became the most popular method for publishing everything from fine art and posters to post cards and advertisements during the latter half of the nineteenth century. The Far less costly advancements of photomechanical methods, however made this original and complex form of printmaking all but obsolete by 1930. Femme de l'ile de Procidal (Royaume de Naples) is a striking, original example of the lithographic art printed in colors during this period. |

Condition: | Printed on wove paper with full margins. Slight foxing as usual, else a fine unfaded and in good condition throughout. The colouring is very soft and has been registered with great care. Published in Paris, with the names of the lithographer, printer and publisher in the lower margins.
