Peter Ackermann: An influential German architectural
artist, Peter Ackermann studied painting and etching techniques at the
Free University of Berlin (1954) and at the Hochschule fur Bildende Kunst,
Berlin (1956-1962). In the early 1960's, Peter Ackermann became a major
representative of Phantastischen Realismus (Fantastic Realism), particularly
in his etchings where he often juxtaposed deserted ruins with parts of
machinery. |

After 1963 Peter Ackermann worked as a freelance artist in
Karlsruhe. In 1972 he became a visiting professor at Karlsruhe’s,
Akademie der Bildende Kunste, and, in 1976, became a professor at that
city’s State Academy of Fine Arts. |

In 1966, Peter Ackermann was awarded the Deutschen Kunstkritik Prize
and in 1971 he was the recipient of the Ville Romana Prize. Retrospective
exhibitions of Peter Ackermann's art were held at municipal museums
at Karlsruhe (1997), Kalkar (2001) and Mainz (2004). |

as published in the limited edition of 150 signed s. Signed,
dated and numbered, '74/150', by the artist in pencil along
the lower margin. A finely printed and in excellent condition
throughout. "Architectural Motif" represents an important, original example
of the etched art of Peter Ackermann. |
