View other original works of art by Robert Walker MacBeth Robert Walker MacBeth (Glasgow, 1848 - London, 1910): A nineteenth century Scottish painter and etcher of pastoral landscapes, Robert Walker MacBeth studied art in London and then worked as an artist and illustrator for The Graphic. He began exhibiting his art at the prestigious Royal Academy in 1871, as well as in Glasgow, Liverpool and at the Royal Scottish Academy. MacBeth was a full member of the Royal Watercolour Society (1901), the Royal Academy (1883) and the Royal Engravers. Many of his etchings are included in the collection of the British Museum, London. The Portfolio was England's leading art journal of the latter nineteenth century. Founded and edited by Philip Gilbert Hamerton (1834-1894), it was published in annual issues from 1870 to 1892. Hamerton was the influential author of such classic books as Etching and Etchers and for The Portfolio he regularly commissioned such great British etchers as Seymour Haden, D. Y. Cameron, Ernest George and Robert Walker MacBeth to contribute original art. Today these etchings are collected as valuable examples of fine nineteenth century British art. |

View more information and other original works of art by Susannah MacDonald Susannah MacDonald (Boston, Born, 1954): A contemporary American artist, Susannah MacDonald first studied at the New England Conservatory of Music (1973-1952) and at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (1982-1983). She then completed her education at the Studio Art Center, Florence, Italy (1984-1985), and at the Pratt Institute, New York (1983-1987). Susannah MacDonald's distinctive art first drew national attention at the New York Artexpo in 1995. Since that time her work has been published by John Szoke Graphics, New York. It has also been included in major exhibitions in Washington, New York, Geneva, Switzerland and in Tokyo. |

Gina Mikel (Born, St. Louis, Missouri, 1966): Gina Mikel is an outstanding American artist who received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1988. She was the deserving recipient of the merit scholarship from (1984 to 1988). Gina studied under the prestigious scientific illustrator, Zbigniew Jastraebski among others. Many of Mikel's greatest works of original art are in the demanding medium of the watercolour. However, one must take notice that her paintings, drawings, and pastels also demonstrate Gina's exceptional ability in the field of fine art. During her career, Gina Mikel has proven equally adept in the depictions of landscapes, portraits, still life and animal studies. Gina's recent illustration projects have included illustrating, fish, frogs and birds for the JASON Project produced by Wisconsin Sea Grand and Bird illustrations for Organic Gardening Magazine. A recent watercolor of the World Trade Center (painted during the week following 9-11) was printed in the local newspaper. |

View more information for 'Promenade', original work of art Milvia Maglione Milvia Maglione (Italian, 20th Century): A leading Italian printmaker, painter and artist of assemblages, Milvia Maglione has exhibited her art since the early 1960's. In 1967 she was a contributing printmaker to the Dutch publication, The Situationalist Times, along with such artists as Alechinsky, Matta, Lam and Jorn. Living and working in both France and Italy, Maglione has been the recipient of numerous government commissions. In 1991, for example, she designed a series of postage stamps for the French government. Throughout her career, Milvia Maglione has dedicated much of her art to the fascinating world of the child. Her art has long been included in major exhibitions in Holland, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Italy, France, Germany and Japan. |

View more information for 'Auxerre - La Cathedrale', original work of art Gustave Henri Marchetti ustave Henri Marchetti (Paris, 1873 - ?): An early twentieth century French etcher, painter and sculptor, Gustave Henri Marchetti studied art in Paris under such instructors as Gabriel Ferrier and Bourguereau. He began to exhibit his art there in 1895 and became a full member of the Societaire des Artistes Francais in 1901. Marchetti exhibited with the Artistes Francais until the outbreak of the First World War in 1914. During his career, Marchetti received awards from the Paris Salon for painting (1900) and for engraving (1905). From approximately 1900 to 1910, the Paris publisher, Hautecouer, commissioned Marchetti to create a number of French views. For most of these, the artist worked within the complex medium of the colour aquatint. Auxerre-La Cathedrale is indicative of Marchetti's fine work within this form of original engraving. |

View more information and other original works of art by Margo Margolis Margo Margolis (Lawrence, Ma, 1946 - Resides, New York City): A well known contemporary painter and printmaker, Margo Margolis received her B.A. from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY (1970) and her Master of Fine Arts Degree from Indiana University, Bloomington IN (1972), where she was also an Associate Instructor in Painting. Since that time Margolis has been a Professor of Painting at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA (1990-1992). Margolis's first solo exhibition took place at the Brooke Alexander Gallery in New York in 1977. Since that time the artist's work has appeared in major exhibitions in Miami, Tampa, Boston, Chicago, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, and in Rome, Italy. Institutions that have purchased original examples of her paintings and prints include the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, IBM Corporation, Chase Manhattan Bank, Miami-Dade College, Estee Lauder Corporation, General Mills Corporation and the Esso Gallery, New York. |

View more information for 'Vogue Says', original work of art Nathan Margolis Nathan Margolis (New York, active, 1940 - 1970): An American printmaker and illustrator, Nathan Margolis exhibited his art in New York, Washington, Philadelphia and Chicago. Specializing in figurative subjects, Margolis created original lithographs and etchings as well as illustrating a number of books. The subject of sewing was not unfamiliar to the artist. His wife, Adele Margolis, was an accomplished tailor and wrote a popular 1964 book on the subject entitled, The Complete Book of Tailoring for Women who like to Sew. It was also illustrated by Nathan Margolis. |

View more information for other original works of art Frank Martin Frank Martin (London, 1921 - Dieppe, France, 2001): A modern British etcher, engraver and woodcut artist, Frank Martin studied at Hertford College, Oxford University and St. Martins School of Art, London. At the latter institution, Martin studied wood engraving and other graphic techniques under the noted artist, Gertrude Hermes. Frank Martin was for many years the Professor of Engraving and Etching at London's Camberwell School of Art. During his career Frank Martin was also commissioned to illustrate a number of books with his etchings and woodcuts. These include, The Bedside Book of the Art of Living (1959), Hollywood Continental and Newhaven-Dieppe: Recollections and some History of the Town of Dieppe (1996). He also co-illustrated the Folio Society's, The Book of the Thousand Nights and One Night, with Eric Fraser in 1980. Frank Martin was elected an Honorary Academician of the Royal Academy and was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers. He was also a full member of the Academia delle Arti del Disegro, Florence, Italy. Within the last decade one-man shows of his graphic art have been held in London at the Folio Society, the London Arts Gallery and at the National Film Theatre. |

View more information for other original work of art by Gregory Masurovsky Gregory Masurovsky (New York, Born, 1929): A fine, international etcher, lithographer and book illustrator, Gregory Masurovsky studied at the Art Students League of New York. After working several years in New York, Masurovsky moved to Paris, France (1954), where he still resides. Since 1957 important one-man shows of his art have been held in New York, Cleveland, Paris, Berne, Munich and Frankfurt. In 1961 Masurovsky won the Critic's Prize for Drawing at the Paris Biennale; in 1963 he was awarded the International Jury Prize for etching from the same exhibition. He was the recipient of the William Copley Foundation Grant in 1963 and, in 1964, was honoured with a comprehensive one-man exhibition at the Palais des Beaux-Artes, in Brussels. |

View more information and other original works of art by John McClellan John McClellan (New York, 1908 - 1986): One of America's greatest lithographic artists of the twentieth century, John McClellan studied at the Art Students League of New York and concentrated upon the lithography classes of Charles W. Locke. McClellan's first published lithographs date from the early 1930's. Most of these are figure studies of city types and depictions of nudes and often contain social comment. Even in these earlier works of art, however, non-realist elements emerge. This is particularly true in his brilliant examinations of large groupings of people, such as Dissension at the Club (1937) and Children's World (1940). McClellan contained to make highly provocative lithographs throughout the 1940's and 1950's. His art was regularly included in major exhibitions throughout the United States. By 1960, however, McClellan had begun to examine the human form and countenance in a most personal and unique manner. Often basing his compositions upon geometric forms, McClellan created large lithographic art that is both unforgettable and haunting. Faces belongs to this part of his career. |

He later lived and worked in both Cheshire and North Wales. Adolph Meyer was elected an Associate of the prestigious Royal Engravers in 1899 and exhibited with this association until his death in 1919. His etchings were also frequently exhibited at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, as well as at the Royal Academy and at the Royal Cambrian Academy. |

View more information and other original works of art by Mario Micossi Mario Micossi (Argenta, Italy, born 1922): An internationally recognized artist and etcher, Mario Micossi first studied art at the Udine Lyceum before completing his education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 1946. He then moved to New York City where he worked until 1955. He currently lives in his home town of Argenta, which is approximately one hundred miles north of Venice. Micossi first came to the attention of the art world as an illustrator for such leading periodicals as The New Yorker and Saturday Review. From 1960 on, however, he devoted himself almost exclusively to etching and it is in this field of art that his reputation has been established. Such major galleries as the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Fogg Museum, Harvard University, the Albertina, Venice, the Stockholm National Museum, the Stuttgart Staatsgalerie, the Library of Congress and the National Gallery of Art, Washington, own examples of Micossi's original etchings. |

View more information and other original works of art by Leon Gordon Miller Leon Gordon Miller (U S A, 1917 - 1985): A modern American painter, printmaker and stained glass artist, Leon Gordon Miller was widely represented in major American exhibitions from 1950 to 1985. During this time one man exhibitions of Miller's art were held at such institutions as the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Kennedy Gallery, the American Jewish Museum and the San Francisco Museum of Fine Arts. Miller also won the prestigious America Graphics Arts Award in 1975 for his work in the media of silk-screen and woodcuts. Today, Miller's woodcuts and silk-screens are included in such collections as the Library of Congress, Washington, DC, and the Yale University Library. After his death in 1985, Mrs. Polly Miller donated many of his prints and blocks to the permanent collection at the University of Central Florida. Leon Gordon Miller was as well an active lecturer and author. In 1967, he illustrated and co-authored (with Polly Miller), Lost Heritage of Alaska: Adventure and Art of Alaskan Coastal Indians. In 1973, he co-authored (with J. W. Bernstein), Stained-Glass Craft. |

During the past twenty years he has taught courses in the graphic arts at a number of major British universities and colleges. Millington's first published engravings date from the early 1970's. Since that time his art has been extensively exhibited in Britain, Europe, America and Japan. Collections within Britain that have his engraved art included the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Tate Gallery and the Arts Council of Great Britain. |

Minuzzi's art has been extensively exhibited in England, France, Italy, Germany and the United States. Major one man shows have taken place in Munich, Berlin, Dusseldorf, New York and Sienna. |

View more information for 'Angelica and Medoro', original work of art by Raphael Morghen Raphael Morghen (Florence, 1758 - 1833): One of the greatest engravers of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, Raphael Morghen first received instruction from his father, Filippo Morghen (1730-1777), who himself was an accomplished engraver of mythological subjects and portraits. Filippo Morghen was quick to recognize the remarkable talents of his son and sent him to Rome to complete his studies under Volpato. Raphael Morghen published his first engraving at the tender age of twelve. By the age of twenty he had established himself as one of the leading engravers of Europe and received numerous commissions for his beautiful portraits and mythological and religious images. During his career, Morghen both lived and worked in Naples, Rome and in Florence. In total he executed over two hundred and fifty-two original engravings after the art of such masters as Raphael, Titian, Bronzino, Correggio and Matteini. He was a member of Italy's most prestigious academies and of the French Institute. Morghen was also appointed the principle Professor of the Academy at Florence by the Grand Duke Ferdinand III (1793). From this position he influenced an entire generation of early nineteenth century engravers. |

View more information and other original works of art by Louis Fairfax Muckley Louis Fairfax Muckley (Stourbridge, England, 1861 - c. 1915): A major illustrator, etcher, painter and designer during the last decade of the nineteenth century, Louis Fairfax Muckley was a leading force of what was called 'the Birmingham School'. This was an influential group of artists who both allied their style of illustration to and worked with William Morris at the famous Kelmscott Press. Other prominent artists in this movement included Arthur Joseph Gaskin, E. H. New and C. M. Gere. Muckley studied painting and drawing at the Birmingham School of Art. During the early 1880's, his classmates and companions were such fellow artists as Frank Richards and Arthur Joseph Gaskin. After his contact with the art produced by William Morris, Muckley applied himself to the study of decorative illustration and illustrated his first major book while still a student; R. D. Blackmore's, Fringila (1885). During his career, Louis Fairfax Muckley was a frequent exhibitor at many major institutions, such as the Royal Academy and the New Gallery. Among other major collections examples of his drawings are included at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and the Birmingham Art Gallery. |

During her successful career, Murphy received many awards from such institutions as the National Association of Women Artists (1946) the Springfield Museum of Art (1943), Best Prints of the Year (1936, 1942 & 1947) and the National Academy of Design (1951).
