En Pointe

Paul Wood's original etching and aquatint, "En Pointe" is printed upon wove paper and with full margins as published in New York by the Paris Etching Society around 1935. This impression is signed and titled by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. En Pointe is a fine, original example of the animal art created by the American artist, Paul Wood.

Note: Paul Wood studied art at both the Springfield School of Fine Arts and at the Art Students League in New York. During his career he became well known for his watercolours and etchings of animals, mostly those of various breeds of dogs. In the 1930's his etchings were published by the Paris Etching Society and exhibited in the United States and France.
  The original etching and aquatint printed in colours reached its most creative period in the 1920's and 1930's. The most famous artists of these coloured prints were both Austrian; Luigi Kasimir and Hans Figura. Notable artists from around the world, however, practiced this demanding form of printmaking, often combining tonal grounds with the etched lines. They included Nicholas Hornyanski (Canada), Paul Wood and Frederick Halpern (Australia), J. L. A. David and Marchetti (France).

Condition: Printed upon wove paper and with full margins as published in New York by the Paris Etching Society around 1935. Signed and titled by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. It is a fine, colour printing and in excellent condition throughout. En Pointe represents a prime example of the animal art created by the American artist, Paul Wood.
