Irving Amen's original etching, "Peasant Market", is an 'Artist Proof' printed upon fine, hand-made paper and with full margins as published in New York around 1955. It is signed, titled and inscribed in pencil along the lower margin by the artist. "Peasant Market" is a fine, original example of the etched art created by the American artist, Irving Amen.

Note: Irving Amen: A fine twentieth century sculptor, painter, etcher, silk-screen and woodcut artist, Irving Amen studied at the Art Students League in New York and at the Academy Grande Chaumiere in Paris. Throughout his career he traveled extensively, particularly in Europe, Russia and Central America. Besides practicing his art, Irving Amen also taught classes in sculptor and printmaking at such influential schools as the Pratt Institute (1961) and at Notre Dame University (1962). Amen's art was exhibited with the Society of American Graphic Artists, the Library of Congress and the National Academy of Design. In 1949 the Smithsonian Institution also launched a one man exhibition of his work. Irving Amen's art is now included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Bibliotheque Royale, Brussels, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris.
  Irving Amen has shown great talent in the techniques of the woodcut, lithography, serigraphy and etching. In these fields he is a constant and challenging innovator. "Peasant Market" is a fine example of his etched art.

Condition: Printed on fine, hand-made paper and with full margins as published in New York around 1955. Contains some glue staining on the extreme outer margins and has also been backed to board from a previous framing effort. Else, "Peasant Market" is in excellent condition throughout. Signed, titled and marked 'Artist Proof' in pencil along the lower margin by the artist. This original etching represents a prime example of the famous art of Irving Amen.
